December 2008 Prayer Letter

December 2, 2008

Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas to all of you! We hope this letter finds you well and that you will enjoy hearing what the Lord has been doing in the Snow family since our previous letter.

Yuki:

We would like to take a moment to introduce our daughter Yuki. She is a lively little girl with lots of energy. Her Japanese name “Yuki” means “to have hope”. We went through two years of infertility before Yuki was granted to us, and she is the testimony of our hope in the Lord during that time. She will be turning four in February, and Noriko has been teaching her Japanese since birth. She is able to speak it better than her Daddy!

Day of Prayer & Vision:

All the TEAM missionaries are required to take a “Day of Prayer and Vision” at least once a year to spend time alone with God seeking His vision and focus in their lives for the coming year. We took one individually in September, and it was a wonderful time of spiritual renewal and reflection upon our lives. Please pray for our continued dedication and obedience to adjust our lives properly and live according to what the Lord has shown us as His vision and focus in our lives this year.

Japanese Ladies Bible study:

In our last letter we shared with you our ministry vision which is that TEAM missionaries and Japanese Christians will become more effective and efficient in establishing reproducing churches in Japan by the support and encouragement provided through our God-given abilities and gifts.

There are missionaries here in the Dayton area reaching out to Japanese people. This year the Lord has granted Noriko a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a Japanese ladies bible study led by the missionaries. God has brought six unbelievers along with three believers to this study. It has been such a perfect pre-field preparation for Noriko, and we are very excited to see His mighty work in each of these ladies’ lives.

Chad’s Work:

The General Motors Assembly Plant where Chad works is closing on December 23, 2008. Starting in January he will be working month to month. Our plan now is, by faith, to go into full-time deputation after his work ends. As soon as our monthly support reaches above 50 percent, we will be able to draw on that support to help cover our health insurance, which is our main concern during his unemployment. As we face Chad’s uncertain job situation, the economic crisis in the U.S. and our feeling of inadequacy for the work of deputation, we have been reminded of the kind of faith that Abraham had.

“In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.” Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.” Romans 4:18-21

Each day God challenges and teaches us to walk by Abraham’s faith, which is complete assurance in the promise of God. Just as God revealed Himself to Abraham as the all sufficient One when he was ninety-nine years old, whenever the crisis of belief comes upon us, He points our hearts toward Him and assures us He is the all sufficient One who alone is able to fulfill His calling in our lives.

Prayer requests:

  1. Please pray for our continued growing intimate relationship with God out of which effective ministry flows.
  2. Please pray that God will grow in us a heart that is sold out for the Gospel, so that our ministry verse may be fulfilled in our lives: “But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24
  3. Please pray for our continued dedication and obedience to adjust our lives properly and live according to what the Lord has shown us on the Day of Prayer and Vision, which is His vision and focus in our lives this year.
  4. Please pray that during this time of deputation God will grow in us a heart of utter dependence on Him and on nothing else for the fulfillment of His calling in our lives.

Sincerely

Chad and Noriko Snow
