Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from Dayton, Ohio! We hope all of you have had a good start to 2009 and that you will enjoy hearing what the Lord has been doing in the Snow family.
Update on Chad’s Work:
We would like to give you a quick update about Chad’s work. The General Motors Assembly Plant where he worked for eleven years closed on December 23, 2008. We thank you for all your prayers concerning his job situation. God has answered them by providing him with a new project that will allow him to work from home until April.
We are very thankful for all the opportunities that the Lord has granted us so far to share about our ministry. We have seen God’s all sufficiency and faithfulness in every step of support raising work. We have experienced in a deeper way that it is truly by God’s work, not depending on our work or anything else. The Scripture that the Lord has impressed upon our hearts to cling to and pray through during this time of deputation is 2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” More and more we have come to see and understand that this heart that seeks and relies solely and completely on God is what He desires to grow in the lives of His servants.
God often reminds us that the work of deputation is truly a grace of God, an undeserving privilege given to us to be able to testify before countless people the glorious and gracious work of God in our lives over the years and to be His messengers, carrying the message of His divine work in Japan and inviting people to join in it. It has been our prayer that throughout the time of deputation — no matter how challenging and overwhelming the work seems to get — we may keep this reminder of God in our hearts and approach the work with humility, thanksgiving and joy.
Along with his continued computer support ministry at our home church (Patterson Park Church), Chad has recently been blessed with various opportunities to help people who are going to the mission field prepare their computers. This continues to confirm and prepare us for our ministry vision “That TEAM missionaries and Japanese Christians will become more efficient and effective in establishing reproducing churches in Japan by the support and encouragement provided through our God-given abilities and gifts.”
At the end of January, Chad started a 14-week missions course “Pathways,” which was recommended by the mission committee at our home church. It has been such a rewarding course and has changed his perspectives on missions in many different ways. Please pray with us that God will powerfully use this course as a pre-field preparation for Chad for his effective service to Him.
We have been going through an inductive study in Genesis and studying the life of Joseph with a small group at our church. Over the years God has led us to bible studies that perfectly fit to the season of our lives. As God continues to prepare us for the work of ministry in Japan, please pray that He will open our eyes to see what He wants to teach us in this study and that we may “work out our salvation with fear and trembling,” living out what He works within us (Philippians 2:15).
We are very thankful that God has provided 27% of the monthly support and 47% of the transition expenses, and many prayer warriors. Currently we are trying to build a support team with other churches and individuals through our network of friends and family. If you know of anyone or any churches who would like to hear more about our ministry, please let us know.
- As God continues to prepare us for the work of ministry in Japan, please pray that He will open our eyes to see what He wants us to learn and apply from our current study on the life of Joseph.
- Please pray that God will powerfully use the 14-week missions course “Pathways” as a pre-field preparation for Chad for his effective service to Him.
- Please pray that throughout the time of deputation no matter how challenging and overwhelming the work seems to get, we may keep in our hearts the attitude of humility, thanksgiving and joy toward the work.
- Please pray that God will continue to grow in us a heart that seeks and relies solely and completely on him during the work of deputation.
