Chad and Noriko met in Japan when Chad was on vacation visiting a college friend. Some people have called it “love at first sight,” but we know that God had a lot more to do with it than sight. We communicated by phone, letters, and e-mails for 10 months until Noriko came to Columbus, Ohio, to further her education at Ohio State University. We continued dating, Chad in Dayton, Ohio, and Noriko in Columbus, for another 14 months and were married in November of 2000. Our daughter Yuki was born on February 24 of 2005 and our son Yoshiki was born on February 7 of 2010.
Chad – I was saved at the age of thirteen in a small Nazarene church in Grafton West Virginia. I grew up in a Christian home and regularly attended church. God really grew my faith and knowledge of Him during my time at Cedarville University. Since college God has challenged my faith and shown His faithfulness in many ways.
Noriko – When I first heard the Gospel was about thirteen years ago. At the time I was in South Carolina as an exchange student. I started attending a church there where there was a Sunday school class for international students. The lessons were very difficult for me to grasp at first because of my Buddhist background. I had never read the bible or heard anything about Christ as I grew up, About the same time I got involved in a Bible study (for Japanese) held by an international campus ministry. The more I studied the Word of God and spent time with believers whose lives reflected it and His love, I came to know that God truly exists and decided to follow Him.
